While the 78th Annual Golden Globes virtual ceremony has been full of laughs, the most memorable and emotional part of the night was easily Chadwick Boseman’s wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, accepting his posthumous Best Actor award.

While Daniel Kaluuya muting himself during his acceptance speech and Catherine O’Hara’s husband playing her off from their living room were notable parts of the awards, Ledward’s acceptance speech was painfully heart-wrenching and hard to forget.

After Boseman won the Best Actor in a Motion Picture-Drama award for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, the show cut to Ledward speaking on behalf of her late husband, who died in August of last year after a four year colon cancer battle.

“He would thank God. He would thank his parents. He would thank his ancestors for their guidance and their sacrifices,” Ledward tearfully started her speech.

“He would say something beautiful. Something inspiring,” Ledward continued as Boseman’s co-star, Viola Davis, watched on in tears. “Something that would amplify that little voice inside of us that tells us you can, that tells you to keep going, that calls you back to what you were meant to be doing in this moment.”

“I don’t have his words, but we have to take all the moments to celebrate those we love,” Boseman’s wife ended her emotional speech. “So thank you… and hun, you keep ’em coming.”

As soon as Taylor Simone Ledward finished her speech on behalf of her husband, people quickly took to social media to share their admiration for Ledward’s strength and beautiful words.

Prior to Chadwick Boseman’s Best Actor win, the ceremony also included a segment with TikTok star, La’Ron Hines, who asked a bunch of children who Chadwick Boseman was.

In a very bittersweet moment, all the children seemed to know exactly who Chadwick Boseman is, and the impact he had with Black Panther. As the world should.
