After teasing fans for weeks, Netflix have released the full length trailer for their upcoming adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. In doing so, they’ve also given us our first comprehensive look at Neil Patrick Harris as the dastardly villain Count Olaf. The character was previously played by Jim Carrey in an otherwise forgettable film adaptation. From the looks of things, Harris is taking Olaf in a similarly hammy direction.

Throughout the books, Olaf dons various disguises in his ongoing attempts to get his hands on the Baudelaire family fortune, and it would appear as though that’s carried over from page to screen. The trailer also shows off the series’ over-the-top sense of style – hardly a surprise, given that it’s being helmed by Men in Black director Barry Sonnenfeld.

A Series of Unfortunate Events hits Netflix on January 13.
