Insufferable cockwomble Mark Latham has announced that he’s joining One Nation, and boy oh boy has the internet delivered.

The former Labor leader confirmed the news on Sydney radio this morning, telling 2GB’s Alan Jones that he will head One Nation in NSW. And when you think about it, it’s sort of a match made in heaven: One Nation has a great history of ditching its candidates, and Mark Latham has a great history of losing his job.

In announcing his candidacy, Latham railed against “political correctness” and bemoaned the discrimination faced by “Christians”, “white people” and “men and boys”.

Like I said, a match made in heaven.

Unsurprisingly, the news of a Pauline Hanson / Mark Latham crossover event inspired a strong reaction on social media — starting with former Tasmanian Premier David Bartlett, who called Latham a “sick, sad, sorry loser” and said he was either “unwell, a massive narcissist or dumb as a box of hammers (or all three)”.

Federal Labor MP Stephen Jones was similarly derisive, and said it was only a matter of time before Latham clashed with Hanson and quit.

And things only got more savage from there.
