As Jodie Comer finishes up her legendary run as Villanelle on Killing Eve, a new unhinged character beckons.

The Liverpool-born actor is set to lead the new HBO series Big Swiss, where she’ll star in the leading role as Flavia, also known as ‘Big Swiss’, for some reason. Colour us intrigued!

According to Deadline, the show’s premise is as follows: “After starting a new life anonymously transcribing sex therapy sessions in Hudson, New York, a woman becomes fixated with one of the patients, leading to an obsessive, explosive relationship between the two.” Yep, sounds like a Jodie Comer character through and through.

The new series is based on Jen Beagin’s forthcoming book of the same name, and will be the first project that Comer has signed on to since Killing Eve which premiered in 2018. Killing Eve, Comer’s break-out role where she plays Russian assassin Villanelle, is sadly in its final season.

Comer won an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role as Villanelle in 2019, a category for which her equally iconic co-star Sandra Oh was also nominated.

Apparently, HBO nabbed in the project in a heated battle against 14 bidders, and the new show will be produced by Hyperobject Industries and A24. Most recently, Hyperobject Industries produced the dating horror film Fresh and the star-studded apocalypse comedy Don’t Look Up.

Hyperobject Industries was founded by Adam McKay, an industry titan who has worked on the likes of Don’t Look Up, Vice, Booksmart and our favourite, Succession.

McKay is set to executive produce The Big Swiss alongside Jen Beagin and Comer herself. At the time of writing, the project is said to be in development. No release date has dropped as of yet.

In the meantime, Killing Eve is still going strong, people. It ain’t over until it’s over. Catch the latest season on ABC iView.
