Quarantine has been hard. There’s no way around that. Being stuck inside with nothing but our brains for company is a tough order, and many of us are turning to increasingly outlandish forms of escapism to get by. Just take the case of Flume.

Flume is one of the best-known musicians on the planet, an artist of profound cultural impact who basically changed the texture of what we hear on the radio. But none of that success has helped him get through quarantine without going a little bit, uh, odd, as a video that the megastar posted to his Twitter page proves.

Apropos of pretty much nothing, the musician dropped a video of himself sitting at his computer tinkering around with a remix of the song ‘Blue (Da Ba Dee)’ by the band Eiffel 65.

That track is, of course, one of the most memed songs on the planet, a one-hit wonder that has spent years rattling around our collective heads. But Flume’s remix has an unusual edge: namely that the star made the whole thing while covered in blue face paint.

I mean, I don’t know what further context I can provide, so best that you just watch the thing:

It really feels like we are in a new phase of Flume’s career, these days. Ever since he infamously ate ass at Burning Man, he has been more cheeky and meme-centric than ever. Basically, it looks like he’s having a lot of fun. And for that, we are glad.
