Earlier this year, The Axis of Awesome singer Jordan Raskopoulos addressed fans growing concerns over the recent lack of beard at the front of the Sydney comedy trio. “There’s a very good reason for why I got rid of my beard — and a very, very good reason for why it is never ever coming back. I am transgender,” she said. “No shit. That’s right, I am a girl!”

In a YouTube video which went on to be viewed more than 280,000 times, Raskopoulos explained that she had been suffering from gender dysphoria since she was a child and had been undergoing the transition process over the previous year. In that time, Jordan had written about the experience under a pseudonym for Junkee explaining the steps and options presented to her. Her announcement was received well and the resulting insight worked as a great FAQ for fans who may not understand trans issues more generally.

Now, some of this is being translated on stage! Axis of Awesome have been touring their Won’t Ever Not Stop Giving Up show around the festival circuit over the past couple of months and just dropped some new footage on their Facebook page. The featured song, ‘The Elephant In The Room’, was recently performed at Sydney’s Giant Dwarf and deals with the topic everyone wants to know about: Lee Naimo’s recent baldness.

Spoilers: Lee’s voice isn’t going to change, neither is his sexual orientation, and anything to do with his dick isn’t “any of your fucking business”.

As cool as Jordan was during that whole thing, she’s also talked at length about the anxiety which she’s faced about coming out to her fans. Reporter Patrick Abboud tagged along to the very first shows in which Jordan performed as a transgender woman and documented it all for a recent episode of The Feed. It’s well worth a watch.
