Alec Baldwin had two jobs on Saturday Night Live this week, and I’ll be damned if he didn’t nail both of them. The actor was back in his semi-regular role as President Donald Trump, a caricature that feels closer to reality by the day. But he also took on the part of Bill O’Reilly, the prominent Fox News anchor who is currently under fire after it came to light that he and his employers have paid around $13 million in settlements to women he is accused of sexual harassing.

Trump, for what it’s worth, has been one of the few people to publically defend O’Reilly. It’s almost like he feels a weird kinship with powerful old men accused of treating women like sex objects. Funny about that.

The SNL sketch begins with Baldwin as O’Reilly promising to touch on “the scandal that everyone’s been talking about all week. A scandal that no one thought I’d have the guts to address head on, about the shocking allegations about abuse of power…that have been leveled against the Obama administration.”

As the sketch continues, the anchor eventually admits that “apparently several women have come forward and accused me of offering them exciting opportunities here at Fox News.” He then welcomes his guest, “a man who is unimpeachable on all female issues”: President Donald J. Trump.

Baldwin’s Trump, for his part, said that despite jumping to O’Reilly’s defence, he wasn’t too familiar with the specifics of the case, as he’s been busy “being super Presidential by bombing a bunch of shit.” But he did assure the viewers that sexual assault was an issue “near and dear to my hand.”
