Due to open nationally on June 18, Inside Out is the first film from Disney Pixar since Monsters University. Set in the mind of an 11-year-old girl called Riley, it revolves around five Emotions who are trying to deal with all the complexities that come with growing up.

That there’s a new Pixar film coming out so soon is in itself is reason for celebration, but then there’s also the ridiculously excellent cast: Lewis Black, Phyillis Smith, Bill Hader, Mindy Kaling and Amy Poehler star as Anger, Sadness, Fear, Disgust and Joy respectively.

Yep, actress, comedian, writer and feminist hero Amy Poehler is playing the embodiment of joy; and double-yep, she’s coming to Australia about it.

Along with the film’s director Pete Docter and producer Jonas Rivera, Poehler will be heading to Sydney to attend the Australian premiere at Event Cinemas on Monday June 15.

So far, no public events have been announced. But you will soon be breathing roughly the same air as Amy Poehler, and that in itself is newsworthy.

[Update June 15]: Amy Poehler will be appearing on tonight’s 7.30, in a special segment presented by Annabel Crabb. Which means Leigh Sales sacrificed her one chance to conduct the world’s greatest interview, so she could give it to her friend. That’s love, people.
