As part of Video Junkee, our festival dedicated to all things video, we’re holding a bunch of screenings. And there’s one you absolutely shouldn’t miss.
Directed by documentary master Barbara Kopple, This Is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous follows the journey of Gigi Lazzarato. Gigi was a nationally-ranked diver in Canada before climbing the ranks of YouTube stardom with fashion and beauty tutorials. In 2013, the young vlogger came out as a transgender female, Gigi, to an audience of millions.
This Is Everything: Gigi Gorgeous premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year to critical acclaim. It provides a candid look at Gigi’s transition, with Kopple placing the spotlight on Gigi’s family, and the unwavering, unconditional acceptance and support they provided throughout Gigi’s journey. Produced by YouTube Originals, the film is available on the streaming platform’s subscription service, Youtube Red.
