No Big Deal, But Tkay Maidza Debuted A Song In The Second Last Episode Of ‘Girls’

"Lena knew who I was and is apparently a fan of mine."

Fact: the second best thing about Girls (after Elijah, of course) is the show’s soundtracks. This season alone, HBO has premiered new songs from Robyn and Banks, made excellent use of Rihanna’s ‘Desperado’ and given Jessa one of her best scenes yet with Ariana Grande’s ‘Dangerous Woman’.

Which makes the show’s latest soundtrack choice a very big deal. Yesterday the penultimate episode of Girls aired in the US and right at the end, music from Adelaide’s own Tkay Maidza featured – a track called ‘Glorious’ she explains was handpicked by Lena Dunham herself.

Girls reached out to my US label asking if we had any unreleased songs for their final ever season as Lena knew who I was [Ed note: !!!] and is apparently a fan of mine,” explains Tkay. “They wanted something for a party scene and I have maybe 5-10 songs that are basically finished but didn’t make the cut for my album. We thought ‘Glorious’ could fit well, so we sent them that and the feedback was that Lena loved it and they wanted to use it.”

“I love the show and it’s really crazy that they know me but I’m excited to see the track in there and for people to hear it.”

Pretty cool, right? You can hear ‘Glorious’ below.
