Australia’s headed to a double dissolution election! If you listen to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull we sorely need one to root out corruption in the construction industry, which almost no one considers an important enough issue to base an entire election around but okay.

But much like his views on climate change, marriage equality and data retention, PM Turnbull’s opinion on the merits of an early double-dissolution election contrasts pretty starkly with the Malcolm Turnbull of old. Since no one captures the ongoing exercise in cognitive dissonance that is the Turnbull Prime Ministership quite like the man himself, YouTube wizard Ace Alderman‘s pointed out this double-dissolution backflip in the simplest and most elegant way possible: by playing Turnbull’s own words back at him. Literally.

Turnbull’s not the only pollie Alderman’s skewered in this fashion; last year his video of Tony Abbott debating himself in Parliament went viral. Just two weeks later, Abbott was toast. Time will tell if history repeats itself.
