The best satire is the kind that uses the subject’s own words to corner them with, and Tony Abbott has provided Australian comedians of all stripes with ample material in that regard.

But never quite like this. Courtesy of self-described “unemployed film and TV graduate” Ace Alderman (who someone needs to hire, like, yesterday) comes a brilliantly conceived and almost seamless video of Tony Abbott debating himself in Parliament, using the arguments he put to the government while in Opposition to demolish the terrible job he’s done in government.

It’s “if you want better coverage, be a better government” all over again, but with twice the Tony and a delightfully snarky news ticker to boot.

“The fight of the century, on the eve of the second anniversary of his government (or ‘Abbottversary’), opposition leader Tony Abbott really lays into Tony Abbott about his Prime Ministership and leadership,” reads the video description.

“But Tony’s having none of it and fires right back at him!” Brilliant.
