David Lynch Confirms The ‘Twin Peaks’ Reboot Is Back On
It is happening again.
[Update September 29]: It was announced this morning that Catherine E. Coulson, who played the iconic ‘Log Lady’ in Twin Peaks and was set to return for its reboot, died on Monday of cancer, at age 71. It is unknown whether new scenes with her have already been shot.
It's hard to think of anyone who better exemplified the heart and the soul of #TwinPeaks than Catherine Coulson. RIP.

“Today I lost one of my dearest friends,” David Lynch said in a statement. “Catherine was solid gold. She was always there for her friends — she was filled with love for all people — for her family — for her work. She was a tireless worker. She had a great sense of humor — she loved to laugh and make people laugh. She was a spiritual person — a longtime TM meditator. She was the Log Lady.”

In October 2014, Twin Peaks director David Lynch dramatically announced his cult ’90s hit would be returning with a nine-episode limited series on Showtime and everyone rightly lost their minds. Then, last month he casually pulled out of the project, breaking our hearts because he wasn’t being offered enough money. Now, after being directly petitioned by old members of the cast and hounded by 25 years’ worth of fans, he’s today confirmed he’s back on board.
Though this really is great news, it’s a little hard to reconcile the excitement with all the previous despair and confusion. Is this for real now? Will it be worth it? HOW DO WE PROCESS THESE FEELINGS, DAVID?
Because the director’s little-used Twitter account is now exclusively a tool taunt us with this kind of information, Lynch announced the news here just an hour ago.
Dear Twitter Friends, the rumors are not what they seem ….. It is !!! Happening again. #TwinPeaks returns on @SHO_Network

Soon after, Showtime confirmed the reboot was back on track and David Lynch would indeed be directing every episode.

#TwinPeaks pre-production starts now!! Every episode will be directed by @David_Lynch! #Showtime #damngoodcoffee

“This damn fine cup of coffee from Mark [Frost] and David [Lynch] tastes more delicious than ever,” said Showtime president David Nevins. “Totally worth the extra brewing time and the cup is even bigger than we expected. David will direct the whole thing which will total more than the originally announced nine hours.”
We don’t yet know how much longer the series will be or when it will arrive after all this controversy, but judging by how excited the old cast are, there’s loads to be excited about.

Incidentally, hardcore fans probably should have seen this coming. Just as Laura Palmer foretold the reboot saying “I’ll see you in 25 years”, the Giant knew Lynch would be back all along:
