The Behind-The-Scenes Footage From This Week’s Epic ‘Game Of Thrones’ Battle Is Absolutely Nuts

It's even more epic than the episode itself.

Spoilers for the most recent episode of Game of Thrones, obviously.

Well that was intense.

Last night Game of Thrones delivered one of the most hectic battles sequences in its seven year history, as Daenerys and Drogon reduced a large portion of the Lannister army to crispy, crispy barbecue.

Ouch.

It’s going to be a long week waiting to find out the fates of Jaime and Bronn. In the meantime, HBO have released a 13-minute behind-the-scenes look at the making of this week’s episode, and it might honestly be even crazier than the battle itself.

For starters, it turns out the sequence actually broke a TV record for the number of people on fire in a single shot (20, in case you were wondering). Then there’s the interview with one of the stuntmen, who is way too nonchalant when he talks about “keeping your heart rate down” while literally being engulfed in flames.

“You’ve got to be calm,” adds one of his colleagues, like it’s no big thing.

It’s kind of staggering just how complicated a scene like this is to shoot. That being said, I think my favourite thing about the clip is producer Chris Newman’s epic beard.

Like honestly, how has he not been given a role in front of camera?

Grand Maester Pycelle?

I would give just about anything to hang out on the set of this show. Preferably from a safe distance though.
