Someone Actually Recorded That Cursed ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ Food Delivery Jingle
This is deeply upsetting.
Last week, Savage Garden frontman Darren Hayes revealed he was approached by an unnamed food delivery service to turn his iconic song ‘Truly Madly Deeply’, into a jingle.
“I’ll bring you Greek, I’ll bring you French, I’ll bring you Japanese,” begins the song, altered from the original’s “I’ll be your dream, I’ll be your wish, I’ll be your fantasy.” Perhaps the most bizarre line is this one, in the chorus: “I want to stand with you on food mountain/I want to float with you in some cheese.”
It’s an image that was neither hygienic nor pleasing.

Frenzal Rhomb guitarist and former triple j host Lindsay ‘The Doctor’ McDougall had a brief crack at the jingle on guitar, and look — we’ve certainly heard worse things.
I’m certainly not the only person who’s gonna do this, but I had to give it a go. Maybe we can all split the proceeds. pic.twitter.com/8y9L5tgwIE

Unfortunately, the fun stops there. This week, Hit Network brekky hosts Gawndy and Maz cobbled together a proper version of the jingle — and it is well and truly cursed. Something about hearing ‘food mountain’ floating over the original glistening production of the single makes you yearn for the sweet abyss.
Hear it below, from around the 2.30 mark.
