Those Naughty Youths At ‘Tonightly’ Have Roasted The “Dangerous” Baby Boomer Community
Naturally, actual Boomers are taking it well.
“They’re known colloquially as ‘Baby Boomers’, the name referencing the population explosion after World War II when people became incredibly horny because Hitler was dead,” begins Tonightly host Bridie Connell in an extremely funny investigation of “Boomer culture”.
The basic premise of this sketch is that the rich and beautiful culture of the Baby Boomer community involves lots of varied interests and traditions, such as completely ruining the housing market for everyone else and destroying the world.
“Owning a house might seem to you or I like something the Queen of England does, but in the Boomer community it’s perfectly normal to own the property you live in, effectively making you your own landlord,” says Connell.
“It may seem fun or cool to destroy the entire economy with multiple highly leveraged investment properties, or to write a nine-page letter to the ABC about an arcane pronunciation issue that nobody gives a shit about, but we need to get across the message to Boomers that this sort of behaviour is just not on.”
Those ABC scallywags also take aim at The Boomer’s baffling and unfortunately growing use of social media, including their love of Twitter.
“They have names like SirDameOnionKnight and Peter Fitzsimons,” says Ben Jenkins, playing a Boomer expert.
However, in an effort to #NotAllBoomer the conversation, Wendy Harmer also features in the video, explaining that not all of her tribe are misusing social media.
“Not all of us are sharing baffling political memes on Facebook.”
It’s a very funny video, go and watch it now:
