Whoa, Did Tame Impala Just Tease Us With New Music?

Very mysterious.

We’ve been waiting on new music from Tame Impala for more than a hot minute now that it almost feels like time’s only been going backwards.

Sure, we’ve heard Kevin Parker pop up on tracks by SZA, Theophilus London and ZHU, and he produced ex-band Pond’s recently released stellar album Tasmania, but it’s been four years since Currents came and went. Today, Parker gave us a teaser of what, by context, we can only assume is new music.

On the band’s Instagram, Parker uploaded a 20-sec clip of music blasting through the studio, and it’s just as hazy and organ-filled as ever.

It’s not a lot to go off, but perhaps we won’t have to wait too long to hear more. As triple j point out, Tame Impala’s booked for SNL this 30 March, and will headline Coachella the following weekend.

If now’s not the perfect time to drop new music, then when?

Then again, the less we know, the better. An album’s coming this year: in the meantime, we’ve got 20 seconds to obsess over.
