This Legend Built The Entire Splendour Site Inside ‘Minecraft’, And It’s Incredible
Featuring the Amphitheatre, the Tipi Forest...even some sniffer dogs.
A few weeks ago, Splendour in the Grass organisers announced with a heavy heart that the festival would be moved to October, due to the growing concern surrounding COVID-19.
It was a big blow to music fans around the country, who had already seen Bluesfest and Groovin the Moo cancelled. But thankfully, one intrepid punter has gone above and beyond to ensure we still experience the highs of the festival — by building the entire fucking thing inside Minecraft.
Beloved meme page ‘Aus Music Memes For Tash Sultana Loving Teens’ uploaded a walkthrough of ‘Splendour in the Minecraft‘ a short time ago, and it is seriously impressive.
It features pretty much everything: the Amphitheatre, the ticket line, the bars, the Splendour iconography on the walk into the site. There’s even some sniffer dogs hanging around the entrance.
It was made by the page’s Reuben Gore, a freelance content creator from Adelaide. “Been in isolation for two weeks since I got back from the US so this has been a free time project,” he told Music Junkee.
“I’d say about 30 hours total build time. We just thought it would be a bit of a laugh to make virtual Splendour during the COVID pandemic.”
Gore said he’ll likely stick it on a server in the next couple of days so people can visit. In the meantime, check out the walkthrough below.
