Sometimes when the internet is really good, you don’t want to delve too deeply into why it makes you happy. Why ruin it with over-analysis! All I know is that this video of three young men trying to find actor/performance artist Shia LaBeouf in the middle of the American desert, has made me very content.

Here is the gist: Three dudes with deadpan ’90s movie voices track the coordinates that Shia leaves on his Twitter, and end up driving for hours just so he can buy them lunch. They drove for so long that all three of their phones ran out of battery. “He could be in the side of the road, he could be in a house… we have no idea,” one of the men said with hope in his eyes. Another confirmed that they truly wanted to show Shia: “some crazy shit in Denver”.

Apparently this is all part of a Vice project called #TakeMeAnywhere, in which from May 23 to June 23 people are invited to pick up artists from whatever coordinates they post and drive them to another location. However, they never actually mention Vice in the video, which just makes it even sillier and more fantastic.

Was I swept away by the metaphor of Shia being rescued while roaming in the middle of nowhere? Absolutely! But you cannot deny the collective joy on these faces when they cry: “WE FOUND HIM!” and Shia smiles the smile of a man who just discovered inner peace.

SHIA ONCE WAS LOOOST, BUT NOW IS FOUUUND!

“We got to meet each other, it was really cool,” says one of the men, while still standing next to Shia. “Bunch of handsome motherfuckers on this phone right here, woo!” says Shia, and all the boys go: “Woo!”

So there you have it. It seems like Shia LaBeouf has really found his niche — hanging out with strangers, who are super stoked about the whole thing.
