Nickelback Frontman Chad Kroeger’s Feud With Stone Sour Just Won’t End

The most ridiculous beef of 2017 just keeps on keepin’ on.

If you don’t remember (or have been trying hard to forget), it all started a bit over a month ago when Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger labelled Stone Sour “Nickelback lite” during an interview with heavy website Metal Covenant.

“They’re trying to be Nickelback,” Kroeger said. “They’re not as good as Nickelback — they sound like Nickelback lite. Corey Taylor has said some really nasty things about me in the press. He talks about how easy it is to write a hit song — well, show me! Write one. I have yet to hear one from him.”

Not one to back away from a fight, Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor hit back a few days later while appearing on a radio show in Arizona:

“I never said it was easy to write a hit song,” Taylor laughed. “I don’t know what planet he lives on… there must be good weed there, ‘cos he’s an idiot. All I know is I’ve been voted ‘Sexiest Dude In Rock’ wearing a mask. You’ve been voted ‘Ugliest Dude In Rock’ twice without one. Stick that up your ass.”

Turns out, Taylor wasn’t the only one perplexed by Kroeger’s comments. While speaking to a radio station in Philadelphia today, Taylor revealed that after the story first broke, Kroeger’s Nickelback bandmates immediately called him to apologise.

“As soon as that story hit, the band called and apologised,” Taylor said. “Like ‘it’s not us, we promise. It’s just this guy.’  That just tells you the level of ego you’re dealing with.”

“I’ve hung out with the band before, they’re super cool dudes. So I don’t want people holding it against the band, because it’s not them.”

But Taylor couldn’t resist taking another swing at Kroeger, dubbing him “Captain Ego from Planet Douche.”

Which…is a pretty great name. Better step up Chad.
