In every culture there is a legend of a nirvana — a perfect utopian place where milk and honey rains from the sky and nobody dies and everyone is happy. Sometimes you have to travel deep under the earth to find these places, or even die and be judged in order to be found worthy to enter. Or sometimes, you just have to click ‘Like’ on Midsomer Murders on Facebook.

Midsomer Murders is a long-running British crime TV show that follows the efforts of a local detective trying to solve a baffling number of murders in the fictional-yet-extremely-deadly county of Midsomer. Midsomer is populated by endless quaint villages full of people who just wanna stab each other with rakes and other farm tools.

The show has a lot of fans, and many of them are apparently on Facebook.

It’s no idle exaggeration to say that the Midsomer Murders Facebook page may be the most uncomplicated and pure corner of the steaming shit-swamp that is the internet. It’s an unrelenting stream of gentle, good-natured love for the most British of all crime shows, Midsomer Murders.

It’s a community of people drawn together by their affection for a small town that just can’t stop murdering.

It’s a relaxing oasis in this fast-paced modern life, where you can just hang out and watch middle-aged British ladies named Edna thirst for old TV detectives.

Part of the genius of this page lies with its wonderful social media manager, who makes politely cheeky content that’s both incredibly wholesome and slightly titillating to its audience.

Whoever they are, they’re not afraid to post some thirst traps, like below.

And you better believe that Edna and her friends are wildly appreciative.

Although not everybody stays on topic.

Honestly, if you didn’t realise that Midsomer Murders is every British mum’s thirst trap, you’re frankly a fool.

But it’s not just wholesome mum-thirst — there’s also some earnest conversations about things like: wonderful streets in Britain, the best markets, and the time Henry Cavill got bitten by a fox.

They also don’t hesitate to really respond and engage with their fans, such as Heather Hodgkinson who shared a photo of a perfect night in watching Midsomer with a drink. They say size doesn’t matter, but of course it does — nobody wants a small glass of wine!!!

And they just share good wholesome anecdotes and funny jokes with each other!

And there’s also just some really good Midsomer Murders content, which, after all, is what everyone is there for.

There has to be something about Midsomer Murders as a show that has created the perfectly fertile soil for this particular genus of beautiful Facebook community? It’s probably the most gentle of all murder shows, and has spawned a legion of just very calm fans. All those toxic fandoms from other shows really need to take a leaf out of their book.

Honestly, bless this page. Somebody give the social media manager a raise and a nice cup of tea. Go and follow it yourself to keep up to date with all the niceness, and while you’re at it, go and watch Midsomer Murders.
