Your morning commute is about to sound a whole lot different, with Matt Okine and Alex Dyson set to depart triple j at the end of the year. The station has announced that the breakfast duo will record their final show on Friday, December 16, with new hosts taking over the gig in 2017.

Having worked at the station since the age of 18, Dyson is planning on taking some time to travel. “After spending over a third of my life at triple j, I felt it was time to give someone else a go while I travel the world, do a bit of writing and wean myself off my addiction to new Australian music,” he said in a press release sent out by the station this morning.

Okine, meanwhile, will pursue a career in television. “Before radio I actually studied an acting degree, so I figured I’d wait until my looks and hair had completely deteriorated before moving to the small screen,” he said.

“triple j breakfast has been an awesome ride with Matt & Alex,” said the station’s Content Director Ollie Wards. “I can’t wait to see what they do next.”

triple j is yet to reveal who will take over the coveted breakfast radio time slot. Stay tuned.
