Has 1975 Singer Matt Healy Joined The Raw Meat Movement?

Lead singer of 1975 and general agent of chaos Matt Healy was seen tucking into a hunk of raw meat while on stage in NYC last night, so that’s disgusting.

In the most virile display of masculinity since telling Triple J to “fuck off”, a shirtless Healy was captured chewing before taking another bite — while on his knees, no less.

And look, there’s no reason for anyone to watch this video, but it really is mesmerising to witness. It’s hard to know what he was feeling in that moment, but at one point we’re pretty sure we detected a hint of regret; particularly during a moment of particularly laborious chewing.

To be fair, it appears there was an element of performance art here. Earlier footage shows the singer worshipping alt-right figure Ben Shapiro before proceeding to partake in the carnivorous meal, so there was obviously a political point being made here. We just don’t know what it is.

What we do know, however, is that Healy referenced a growing throng of raw meat fans that include Heidi Montag, Jordan Peterson, and someone called ‘The Liver King’, who feel that consuming the uncooked flesh helps connect them to a bygone ancestral lifestyle.

Sadly, it also helps connect them to Salmonella. The NSW Food Authority warns that raw meat contains lots of bacteria and parasites that also include Listeria, Campylobacter, and E. coli, and can cause food poisoning and even death. Do we think that Matt Healy’s meat was cooked backstage on the sly, to ward off contamination? We may never know.
