Well, hasn’t this just been a big week for unexpectedly great covers.

Two days ago, Harry Styles dropped by the BBC Live Lounge to deliver a slam dunk cover of Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 anthem ‘The Chain’, no doubt endearing him to a new legion of classic rock fans.

Today, it’s The Killers stepping up to the plate. Brandon Flowers and company were in the BBC studios yesterday to promote their upcoming album Wonderful Wonderful. They cranked through new single ‘The Man’ and an obligatory — but still excellent — ‘Mr Brightside’ before tackling David Bowie’s 1975 hit ‘Fame’.

There’s only a bit over a week to go until The Killers land in the country for their performance at the AFL Grand Final on September 30. If you haven’t got a ticket to the final, don’t sweat — the band will be playing a free show! after the game ends at 6pm.
