Triple j host Gen Fricker has released her first public statement since she was allegedly assaulted on-air on by a stalker.

31-year-old Kieran Gallagher was arrested by NSW Police earlier this month after allegedly unlawfully entering ABC’s Sydney studios; according to police, once he entered the studios, Gallagher grabbed and kissed Fricker while she was on air.

He has been charged with stalking and intimidating to cause fear, alongside trespassing and common assault charges.

Fricker has yet to return to work, but has now shared a short message to supporters on her Instagram.

“Just a little note to say thank you to everyone who’s reached out over the past few weeks, and to apologise if I haven’t responded directly,” she wrote.

“Please know I see it and I appreciate it. Right now I feel like I’m relearning how to be in the world and it’s an excruciatingly slow process but I’m trying to do the things I can. I’m not sure about the future, but right now, I am grateful and ok.”
