A 31-year-old man has been charged by NSW police after allegedly unlawfully entering ABC’s Sydney studios and assaulting triple J presenter Gen Fricker on-air last week.

Kieren Gallagher, 31, was arrested by police Monday morning near Sydney’s Central Station, as reported by the ABC.

It’s alleged he entered the ABC Ultimo studios on Wednesday 5 September unlawfully by following an employee through security, then making his way through the triple j studios. According to police, once he entered the studios, Gallagher grabbed and kissed Fricker while she was on air.

He has been charged with stalking and intimidating to cause fear, alongside trespassing and common assault charges. Proceedings are halted while Gallagher undergoes a mental health assessment.

ABC director of news Gaven Morris confirmed to staff that, in wake of the incident, there will be increased security measures.
