For the last few years, Q&A has hosted a live panel at Splendour In The Grass, shifting up their usual televised format for discussions designed to appeal to young festival goers.

But this year, the ABC staple has tried something a little different, inviting none other than viral star Eggboy — real name Will Connolly — to get involved and offer his two cents on the state of the world.

Yep, Connolly, best known for cracking a big ole yolk on the back of the head of big ole attention-seeker Fraser Anning, has largely kept quiet since he was thrust into the internet’s especially bright spotlight. He gave only one interview in the aftermath of the incident, presumably — and correctly — judging that it would be a mistake to make the narrative about him, when an entire nation and community was grieving over a terrible tragedy.

He even donated a shedload of cash raised for him to the victims of the Christchurch mosque shooting, certifying his Good Lad status, and making it clear he wasn’t willing to accept the idea that he was some kind of hero.

But now it looks like Connolly is ready to speak a bit more openly about the modern political world. Though presumably the panel will move to talking about Anning and Eggboy’s run-in with him, it’s being touted as a wide-reaching conversation about Australian politics. To that end, Eggboy will be joined by Labor leader Anthony Albanese, Greens Senator Peter Whish-Wilson, and Australia’s strongest voice when it comes to pill-testing, Dr. David Caldicott.

The whole thing goes down on Splendour’s Sunday, and will be presided over by Emma Alberici, Q&A‘s trusty fill-in host.

Of course, Splendour also boasts a pretty incredible line-up, if the promise of some incisive political commentary isn’t enough to draw you in.

Splendour In The Grass hits North Byron Parklands from Friday 19 to Sunday 21 July.
