Comedian Dan Ilic, founder of the Australian Lapsed Catholics Lobby, has debuted a new video revealing the terrifying consequences of legalising marriage equality.

Specifically: heaps of extra people are going to get married.

The minute-long video is a send-up of the new television ad from the Coalition for Marriage, and features a group of concerned women sharing their fears about what will happen if same-sex couples are allowed to wed.

“Now there’s a push for same-sex marriage, but they won’t tell you where it leads,” warns one women, played by actor Michala Banas. “A whole lot more weddings!”

“I get asked to be bridesmaid enough for all my straight friends,” she adds. “I can’t afford to be a bridesmaid for all my gay friends too.”

“It’s hard enough to compete with all my straight friends to have the best wedding. My gay friends’ weddings will be bloody next level.”

Ilic created the Australian Lapsed Catholics Lobby in 2016 in response to the Australian Christian Lobby’s attacks on the Safe Schools program. The group’s founding principals include brunch, sleeping in on Sundays and marriage equality for all.
