You might remember that way back in 2015, an enthusiastic group of over 1000 rock musicians assembled in Italy to play a cover of Foo Fighters’ ‘Learn To Fly’.

The same group did it again the following year — although this time they teamed up virtually to record themselves playing through ‘Saint Cecilia’. Now, the so called ‘Rockin’1000’ have given Hole the same treatment.

Back in July, over 1500 backing musicians gathered in Florence’s Artemio Franchi Stadium to play through Hole classics ‘Celebrity Skin’ and ‘Malibu’ — lead by Courtney Love herself.

We’re talking hundreds of drummers, hundreds of bass players, hundreds of guitarists, and a shit-tonne of backing singers. Needless to say, it was absolute, glorious, madness.

“The first time I saw the Rockin’1000 video, I thought, I want to do that,” Love explains in the just-released footage of the set. “The sight and sound of a thousand musicians connecting with their audience in this open, transcultural way was incredible. It reminded me of the early punk scene, with its community centered around diversity and acceptance.”
