We did it, everyone! The Australian city of Canberra has been declared the best city in the world at Wordle.

Canberra, famous for public servants and roundabouts, was found to have the lowest Wordle average in the world of 3.58 guesses. Jerusalem nabbed second place with an average of 3.63 guesses, followed closely by the Swedish city of Malmö, Durban and Paris.

Have a squiz at the top 10 global cities that are best at solving wordle below, with Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide also nabbing spots in the top 10. What a bunch of word nerds!

The results come from the folks at Word Tips, who took it upon themselves to analyse Twitter data to find the places boasting the best Wordle averages in the world. So it could just be that Canberrans are really good at gloating about their Wordle results on Twitter.

It’s also hard to define what being “good” at Wordle entails. For example, Swedes are actually the fastest in the world when it comes to turning those tiles green.

Anyway, sorry. We did it, Australia! We did it.

Wordle, the brainchild of Welsh software engineer Josh Wardle, made headlines when it was sold to the New York Times for in late January 2022 for a hefty, hefty sum. The Wordle phenomenon has spun off a bunch of think pieces and spin-offs that include Worldle, Quordle, and Nerdle.

Heardle, a music lovers dream that allows you to guess the name of a song from its opening seconds, is the latest spin-off to enter the game.
