Women have long-suffered with the terrible feeling of getting cat-called by random men on the street.

For reasons unknown, gross men seem to think that they can speak to any and all women unprovoked. Whether it’s to express their Satanic levels of horniness for a complete stranger through icky compliments, or just to tell a woman to smile for them, these interactions are always terrible.

And most of the time, men don’t seem to pick up on the hint that we’re not interested. Awkward giggles and monotonous thank you’s are no longer enough. So the females of the world have come up with the perfect response: Barking right back at them.

Yup, literally barking like a dog. Growling. Snarling. In real-life, online — if there’s any opportunity to bark at a man in 2020, women are taking it.

Barking like a rabid dog, to try and deter men from approaching women, sending them messages or just generally existing in their space, is easily 2020’s best trend.

It’s hard to track where the ‘Bark At Men 2020’ trend started exactly, because women just all begun to snarl at men seemingly all at once, but the girls have been barking non-stop over the last few weeks.

While some women documented their experiences of barking at the men cat-calling them, others used the barking technique against religious preachers, racist Trump supporters and just rude old people in general.

As there’s a pandemic currently sweeping over the world and not many people are actually leaving the house, women then resorted to barking at random men they found on their Snapchat accounts. Call it justice for past cat-calls gone by without consequence, or call it forward payment for the inevitable future ones, either way women just can’t stop barking at men.

Swiping up on photos of men doing random activities, women have resorted to sending voice notes of miscellaneous barks and screams with zero explanation. Absolutely confusing men, some women have actually begun offering to randomly bark at the men that other people submit to them for petty reasons like “stealing a pencil in 5th grade”.

But some men have started to catch onto the trend, sending their own barks back in response.

As men started to clue onto what women were doing, they’ve even begun to use our new defensive technique of barking too.

In particular, one video from three days ago went mega-viral when @foopydrip, who was holding a drink for a woman, started barking at another man who was trying to take the drink. With drinking spiking being such a huge problem for women, @foopydrip wasn’t going to let the chance of that happen at all thanks to his barks.

But sometimes barking doesn’t always go right, as Scottish teen Melissa Millar experienced when she barked at what she thought was her friends in a bathroom stall. Spoiler alert: They weren’t.

In conclusion, bark. But bark safely, ladies.
