It’s a very good day to be a Marvel fan, my friends. On the back of the ecstatic first reactions to Black Panther, the studio has just unveiled the first trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp. And while I doubt anyone will be describing the movie as a “cultural phenomenon”, it still looks like a bucket-load of fun.

The sequel to 2015’s surprisingly solid Ant-Man sees Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang back in his weird shrinking scuba suit. Only this time he’s joined by Evangeline Lilly’s Hope van Dyne, aka The Wasp.

For what it’s worth, this is the first time a Marvel movie has given equal billing to a female hero. And I gotta say, it’s about bloody time — especially since it looks like The Wasp is far better equipped to handle business than her wingless, wise-cracking sidekick.

We also get to see more of Hank Pym’s Honey I Shrunk The Kids-style technology in action, reducing a building to the size of carry-on luggage and blowing up a Hello Kitty Pez dispenser to the size of a tree. No, that last thing was not a typo.

Marvel also released a brand new poster for the film and oh, I see what they did there.

Ant-Man and the Wasp hits cinemas in Australia on July 5.
