The cast of Brooklyn Nine-Nine have rallied behind their co-star Terry Crews after he testified before the U.S. Senate earlier this week about his alleged sexual assault.

Crews appeared before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday where he spoke candidly about his alleged assault and the culture of “toxic masculinity” that makes male survivors ashamed to come forward.

“Toxic masculinity permeates culture,” said Crews. “I chose to tell my story and share my experience to stand in solidarity with millions of other survivors around the world… I know how hard it is to come forward, I know the shame associated with the assault. It happened to me.”

Speaking to the Associated Press, Crews’ Brooklyn Nine-Nine co-star Andy Samberg said he and the rest of the cast were inspired by Crews’ testimony.

“We have a cast text chain and we were all texting him how incredible it was,” said Samberg. “He’s a miracle. Terry’s the best guy. I am proud to know him.”

Other members of the cast, as well as series co-creator Dan Goor, shared their support for Crews on social media throughout the week.
