Some Women Love Being Wolf-Whistled, Says Noted Lady Expert Malcolm Roberts
The One Nation senator had some keen insights to offer into the workings of the female mind.
One Nation’s Malcolm Roberts thinks we should relax sexual harassment laws because “some girls” actually like being wolf-whistled.
Roberts, a man who believes weather is a conspiracy and that Waleed Aly condones terrorism, was speaking to ABC radio about race hate laws (spoilers: he’s not a fan) when host Patricia Karvelas brought up the subject of sexual harassment.
“You did say you did think that sexual harassment should be illegal, and it is of course, but sexual harassment can be verbal. It’s not always physical. When it’s verbal should that also be legal?” asked Karvelas.
“Is a wolf-whistle harassment?” asked Roberts in response. “It depends upon the person. Some girls think that that is wonderful, they, you know, they smile. Others are offended. So, wolf-whistle in one court are we going to outlaw it, and another court we’re going to say it’s fine, a compliment?”
The One Nation senator went on to say that he thinks sexual harassment laws go too far, before almost immediately admitting that he hasn’t actually read them.
His comments about wolf-whistling, meanwhile, were greeted by women in exactly the way you’d expect.
