Yesterday at the Reclink Community Cup in Melbourne, Gold Logie winner Waleed Aly joined Dan Sultan and Regurgitator in a tribute to Prince, and it’s safe to say, many feelings were felt. The Community Cup is a national annual fundraising event which pits community broadcasters and musicians against each other in a footy game, with proceeds going to disadvantaged Australians.

As the skies darkened and after many tinnies were consumed on the oval, the purple stage lights went up and everyone got a bit emotional.

Waleed Aly’s ability to shred has been well-documented (how is this person good at so many things?) and earlier in the night he joined Regurgitator on-stage for ‘! (The Song Formerly Known As)’. The crowd cheering his name seemed to energise and terrify him in equal measure.

What a proud moment for Australia.
