Streaming service Stan has just released the first official trailer for their upcoming six-part Wolf Creek series, with John Jarratt resuming his most iconic role since playing Noni Hazlehurst’s husband on Better Homes and Gardens.

The series, which is more like a psychological thriller and less of an outright terror parade like the 2005 film, follows a very American family who are on a vacation exploring “billabongs” and the like, when they happen upon bushman Mick Taylor. After some light joking about killing tourists (what a chiller) Mick does some ol’ fashioned murdering and 19-year-old Eve (Lucy Fry) wakes up to find that her family are missing.

The series, which also stars Australian TV staples Deborah Mailman and Gary Sweet, is an interesting twist on the original because the traditional horror movie ‘Final Girl‘ is actually in pursuit of her attacker. “I promise you, I will find him. And I will make him pay,” Eve says, later cutting off her hair and screaming because drama.

All six episodes of Wolf Creek will stream on Stan from May 12.
