Some people love Beach House. Some people love Tim & Eric. Some people love Twin Peaks. Some people love all three, and those people-and, in fact, all of the other people-have to watch Beach House’s brand new clip for ‘Wishes’.
The song itself is about as Beach House as Beach House get (read: very Beach House): beautiful and dreamy and floaty and sparkly and slow. The narrative of the clip, and we’re using “narrative” in its broadest most possible sense, focuses on the half-time entertainment at a football game. First, Ray Wise (Leland from Twin Peaks) comes out and mimes, very sadly, to Beach House. Second, a slow-motion cheer-off between female cheerleaders and a pseudo-gladiator circus troupe, which gets increasingly spectacular/strange. And then Leland gets on a horse? And a horse head gets on someone? Also there are fireworks? It’s directed by Eric Wareheim, who makes a deadpanned cameo, and it’s great.
