Watch The Trailer For Tina Fey’s New Comedy About The Cutest Cult Member Ever

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is basically a 30 Rock reunion.

If a small piece of you also died when 30 Rock ended and Tina Fey and her team’s glorious writing disappeared from our lives, fear no more. Tina Fey and fellow 30 Rock executive producer Robert Carlock are blessing us with Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and judging by the newly-released first trailer, it’s going to be wonderful.

Starring the adorable Ellie Kemper, from The Office and Bridesmaids and Ellen for that week when Ellen was sick, the trailer introduces Kimmy Schmidt as a woman rescued after spending years in an underground bunker with a Doomsday cult, thinking the world as she knew it has been destroyed. After getting a taste of being outside she decides not to return to cult life and starts anew in New York City, adjusting to new things like light-up sneakers, being catcalled and realising that “dancing is about butts now!” It’s actually really sweet.

Adding to the good news, they’ve basically taken some of the best characters from 30 Rock and given them new names and new jobs and changed very little else. Tituss Burgess (otherwise known as D’fwan, Tracy’s wife’s hairdresser and king of catchphrases) plays Kimmy’s fabulous roommate, and Jane Krakowski (aka Jenna Maroney) is an Upper East Side socialite who hires Kimmy Schmidt as a nanny for her son. I have complete faith in her ability to be a self-centred attention-craving diva.

The show was originally created for NBC but after an offer in November for two whole seasons, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is headed for Netflix on March 6. Which is excellent news, as Netflix will be up and running here by then. Fingers crossed Tina Fey pulls an Amy Poehler in Broad City and cameos in the show she executive produces.
