First things first: sex education is great! It helps us understand a huge part of our biology and it leads to safer practices in our everyday lives. With some schools in the US still teaching “abstinence only” and sexually-transmitted disease still rife around the world, anything to reduce the stigma that surrounds the subject should be totally welcome. The more people talk about it, the better it gets.

At least, that’s the idea. It can be a little harder to accept when that person reducing stigma and opening up about the business of bumping uglies is ’90s icon and beloved figure of your childhood Bill Nye The Science Guy.

This week, after very seriously sitting down with President Obama to talk about climate change, your favourite science teacher/TV dad dropped by Neil deGrasse Tyson’s chat show StarTalk to enlighten everyone on the purpose of human sexuality. As most of the viewers of this show are grown adults and his main point was essentially “sex is good”, it’s difficult to tell why any of this happened. But, in case you feel like hearing a 59-year-old man talk about his “super hard drive to have sex”, please enjoy:

The close-ups of the pandas make this nearly as good as the time the government paid Harold Bishop from Neighbours to play with a bag of sex toys.
