Try to recall your first ever tweet. Perhaps you are cringing right now, or reflecting proudly on your nascent personal brand. Judging by history though, it wasn’t very impressive: probably just an awkward, self-conscious, or vaguely reluctant wave to the Twitter community.

To celebrate its 8th birthday, Twitter has set up a new tool which will show you the first submission made under your Twitter handle, with the option to check out the first tweet of others. Here’s a look at our most loved and hated, and a few of our peers, on their very first day of Twitter school: – Abbott uses his first tweet to thank his supporters on his first day as Opposition Leader back in 09. THANKS GUYS. GREATLY APPRECIATED.

KRudd, meanwhile, sounds like a robot.

Whether any politician has truly mastered the art of Twitter is questionable to say the least.

This one is particularly awkward:

Pharrell “sent” his first tweet? His Twitter age really showed…

Ellen’s early question of “twit or tweet” is valid/ongoing.

Asking Twitter to ‘be kind’ during her ‘first affair’? Yep, that’s a Dunham.

He’ll take your RTs as a comment.

Remember when Miley was all about Gypsy Hearts? Those were the days…

Never one for jumping the gun, Ms. Crabb takes her time.

The Parks and Recreation guys just get it.

Umm is this thing even on? Kirstie Alley is clearly freaked out by this whole Twitter thing.

Here’s us. Hello, internet!

Here’s The Vine. Cribbing from The Simpsons?

Here’s Pedestrian, being slightly reluctant.

Here’s Mamamia. [This joke was removed because it was too easy.]

And here’s the founder of Twitter himself.
