Cats are inherently suspect creatures — they’re cold and unfriendly, they scratch things, and they are not dogs. They also have a strange habit of staring fixedly at things like they want to devour them, which is doubly unsettling when that thing is you.

If you’ve ever envied cats their ability to creep people out with their eyes, you’re in luck — a Japanese art teacher has painstakingly constructed giant, hyper-realistic cat head for you to wear outside whenever you don’t feel like talking to strangers, or not be met with fear and mistrust wherever you go.

The head, created by Japanese needle artist Houseto Sato and his students at the Japan School of Wool Art, is the end result of an exhaustive study regimen entirely devoted to making cute, unsettling animals out of felt. Sato has published a bunch of books on the topic, and presumably is busy making more giant cat heads to outfit the best street gang Japan has ever seen.

Deeply disquieting. Even Bread Face Cat is alarmed.
