In February this year, NFL running back Ray Rice punched his then-fiancee Janay Palmer in an elevator in an Atlantic City casino, knocking her unconscious before attempting to drag her out of the lift.

Earlier this month, horrific footage surfaced of the assault, forcing the NFL to offer a harsher punishment than their absurdly mild initial response: a two-game ban. The League announced a new domestic violence policy, and suspended Rice indefinitely, while his team — The Ravens — terminated his contract. “Yesterday morning Sept 8, all of us saw the video from inside the elevator. It is violent and horrifying,” Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti said, in a letter of apology. “The decision to let Ray Rice go was unanimous. Seeing that video changed everything. We should have seen it earlier. We should have pursued our own investigation more vigorously. We didn’t and we were wrong.”

As for any legal repercussions? Rice was told to enroll in an extremely rare “pretrial intervention”, which — if he attended for a year — would result in no trial, and subsequently no further conviction.

It’s with that in mind that Canadian comedian Megan MacKay presents “a new makeup look inspired by America’s new favourite spousal abuser”. It begins with her favourite foundation, the NFL: “I really like this colour, because it will cover up anything just to save face.”

The rest of it is just as fantastic.
