As the critically excoriated Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice continues to wreak havoc on DC’s dreams of a cinematic universe cash-cow to rival Marvel’s, both fans and studios are hoping the upcoming all-star villain caper Suicide Squad will repair the damage. At the MTV Movie Awards in California earlier today, DC dropped the latest Suicide Squad trailer, giving us an idea of the plot, fleshing out some of the characters and finally giving a good look at Jared Leto’s Joker. There’s also a few shots of Ben Affleck’s Batman in action, as well as some passing references to Henry Cavill’s Superman, so if you were hoping the DC Universe would be as bloated as confusing at its main rival, presumably you can rest easy.

Suicide Squad will be in Australian cinemas from August 4.
