We’re so, so sorry. This story is going to divide your office, your family and your precious groupchat. If you aren’t ready for the chaos, consider this a fair warning. Do not read ahead.

Remember the infamous black and blue/white and gold dress from a couple of years ago? In case you’ve forgotten the Great Dress War of 2015 here’s what we’re talking about:

Some people swear blind the dress is black and blue. Others are adamant it’s gold and white . Then there’s the folk who see different colours depending on the time of the day, their mood, or other weird factors.

The dress was a big deal. It freaked a lot of people out. How could one dress be so divisive? Luckily Donald Trump came along and we all became preoccupied by more important things, but still, the dress was a huge talking point in 2015.

As usual, we’ll let Chrissy Teigen have the final word:

Anyway. Just when we thought we were done with this weird optical illusion nonsense, some genius had to go and upload a photo of a shoe which, just like the dress, is dividing everyone.

Here it is:

The photo was posted to a Facebook group called Girlsmouth by Nicole Coulthard with the caption “Ok girls so my friend has just sent me this asking what colour the shoe is, I would say pale pink and white, but she insists its pale blue and grey. What do you girls see? Please tell me pink and white!”

Unfortunately for Nicole thousands of commenters in the Facebook group were strident in their view that the show was grey and blue, rather than pink and white.

Folks, we’ve got a confirmed #dressgate 2.0. Except this time around people are just extremely mad.

For what it’s worth I personally see a kind of millennial pink and white, but nearly everyone else in the Junkee office is convinced the shoe is grey and a sort of blue/green aqua. As I write this story my colleagues are screaming at me, demanding I acknowledge the shoe is not pink and white. But there’s nothing I can do, that’s what I see!

One Junkee employee said they initially saw the shoe as grey and blue, but now when they look all they can see is pink and white.

So what colour is actual shoe? Nicole told Metro her friend bought the shoes and sent a picture to her mum, who said that “blue suited her”.

“She texted back saying they are pink mum, but when she looked at the pic she saw blue too,” Nicole said. “She sent it to me and I was convinced they are pink, we had a big argument as she said I only said pink because I knew she had bought pink shoes so that’s why I decided to put it up on Girlsmouth.”

Somehow I’m even more confused than I was before.

Like I said, we’re so sorry for doing this. Go forth and yell at each other about the colour of the bloody shoe.
