The Rolling Stones have officially postponed their entire Australian tour, following yesterday’s sad news of the death of Mick Jagger’s partner of ten years, L’Wren Scott.

In a brief note posted on his website overnight underneath a photo of Scott, Jagger stated that he was “struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves. She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me.”

“I have been touched by the tributes that people have paid to her, and also the personal messages of support that I have received,” he added. “I will never forget her.”

Details emerging from various scandal rags yesterday touched on everything from Scott’s reported $6 million business debt, to allegations of Jagger’s infidelity. “She sacrificed a lot to be with him,” said Scott’s former housemaid, in a not-at-all gross interview with the New York Daily News. “She knew there were other women, but she accepted it to be with him.”

The band have since left Perth (their proposed first stop on the tour), and returned to New York. Frontier Touring has asked ticket holders to “please hold on to their tickets until further notice”, as a new schedule of dates is organised.
