Riff Raff’s Australian tour has been cancelled after he was accused of rape by a Melbourne woman.

In a Facebook post last night, a woman alleged the Texan rapper drugged her and sexually assaulted her after inviting her backstage at a gig in 2013. Earlier today the Corner Hotel in Melbourne (where the rapper was due to perform next week) wrote on their Facebook page that they had been made aware of the allegations, and shortly after announced that they would be cancelling his performance.

“We have recently been made aware of allegations of drugging and sexual assault against Riff Raff on a previous Melbourne tour,” they wrote in a statement. “The Corner & High Fi Events take allegations of sexual assault very seriously, and we have therefore cancelled Riff Raff’s upcoming show at the Corner Hotel.”

“We are working tirelessly to ensure the venue is a safe and inclusive space for everybody and we don’t condone sexual harassment and assault of any kind. Thank you to everyone who has been in touch to voice their concern. As a venue, we prioritise a safe and inclusive environment and we want anyone who has experienced any incident of sexual harassment or assault to know that we are listening and will support you.”

Shortly afterwards, his tour promoter Audiopaxx confirmed to Junkee that his entire tour would be cancelled, effective immediately.

“We have been made aware of allegations made against Houston rapper Riff Raff,” they wrote in a statement. “Audiopaxx take these matters seriously and does not condone any of this alleged behaviour. In light of this, we have spoken to his management team and the scheduled tour of Australia and New Zealand has been cancelled, effective immediately.”

The rapper was due to begin his tour in Cairns tonight, with additional performances scheduled in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and the Sunshine Coast.
