There’s An Entirely New Mystery Pokemon With No Name In ‘Pokemon Go’ And Everyone Is Baffled
They're calling it "Nut Boi".
There’s a brand new Pokemon in town, and it has the massive community of Pokemon Go players shook: because it’s got no name, it can’t actually be caught and doesn’t register to the Pokedex. *X-Files music plays*
If you’re not aware, Pokemon Go is an augmented reality mobile game that took the world by storm in 2016. Huge amounts of people still play it — as the old saying goes, “you have to catch them all” (the Pokemon that is).
The mystery Pokemon was first found by a dataminer, which without doing any research at all, I imagine is some kind of leather-trenchcoat wearing Matrix dude who hacks the mainframe of Pokemon Go. Anyway, shortly afterwards, Pokemon X began to appear around the Asian Pacific region. Its appearance coincided with a big in-game event ‘Chikorita Community Day’, in which increased spawns of the second generation Pokemon Chikorita were common.
The no-name Pokemon is characterised by having a big old industrial nut instead of a head (I mean, same), and when players catch it, it turns into a regular Ditto, which is weird. It’s all weird! People are confused. Naturally, there’s a massive thread on the Pokemon GO Reddit with people swapping conspiracy theories
It’s generally thought that this weird nut Pokemon is an early look at one of the next generation of Pokemon, which are expected to roll out in the new Pokemon RPG coming out in 2019. But there are all sorts of other thoughts and theories too — maybe it’s the ghost of another Pokemon? Maybe the augmented reality has gone rogue, and started breeding new accidental Pokemon?
