Oh Good, Pauline Hanson Has Just Hired One Of Donald Trump’s Old Economic Advisers

Seems like a good fit.

In a match that actually sounds kind of perfect when you really think about it, Pauline Hanson’s One Nation party has apparently nabbed its new economic adviser straight from aspiring US President Donald Trump.

Pauline Hanson Ripped Into Immigrants, Muslims And Women In Her Completely Bizarre First Speech

Speaking at a community forum in Rockhampton, Queensland, Hanson’s chief-of-staff James Ashby said that the party had just hired “one of the world’s leading economists, who has worked for Donald Trump,” although he declined to identify the financial whizz by name.

“We have just taken him from the Trump camp, so he’s come on board with us,” claimed Ashby. “That’s pretty exciting. We need to build credibility on the economic front, so that’s why we’ve hired somebody with that credibility.”

While Ashby will get no arguments from us that One Nation needs to up its economic game, hiring a man whose previous employer has filed for bankruptcy half a dozen times doesn’t necessarily seem like the best way to do it. Oxford Economics this week warned that the US economy could end up $1 trillion worse off by 2021 under Trump’s proposed economic policies – which include sweeping tax cuts for businesses and individuals.

Doesn’t exactly scream credibility, does it?

“Deals”

Hanson touched on the economy during her first speech in Parliament on Wednesday, decrying foreign investment and “out of control” government spending. There’s a good chance you might have missed it though, on account of being distracted by all the Muslim-bashing.
