Stephen Hawking knows more about how the universe works than just about anyone on the face of the earth. But even he doesn’t understand why people seem so unwilling to haul their lazy bums off the couch.

In a new one-minute PSA recorded for Swedish non-profit GEN-PEP, the renowned physicist expresses his concern about “one of the most serious public health problems of the 21st century.”

“Today, too many people die from complications related to overweight and obesity,” he says. “We eat too much and move too little.”

“Fortunately,” Dr. Hawking explains, “the solution is simple. More physical activity and change in diet. It’s not rocket science.”
