Natalie Joyce has spoken publicly for the first time since Barnaby up and left her to have a baby with his staffer, and she really didn’t hold back. In an unpaid interview in the Australian Women’s Weeklyshe slammed Barnaby’s decision to accept $150,000 for his side of the story, calling it an “absolute disgrace”.

“I wouldn’t want a cent of that money. It was all we could do to watch it without throwing a brick at the TV,” she said. She also questioned why, when Barnaby justified accepting the $150,000 by saying it was all going into a trust fund for his new kid, he didn’t also include his four other kids in that generosity. A pretty good point, actually.

Natalie said that it was because of her four daughters that she felt compelled to finally speak up.

“I’m normally a very private person but I knew I had to find my voice,” she told the Women’s Weekly. “They thought I would lie down, but this time I couldn’t.”

“I’m doing this so the girls feel empowered, and know their mum stood up and defended our fine name.”

She’s certainly held her tongue for an impressively long time — it was February when we found out Vikki Campion was pregnant with Barnaby’s kid, but he first announced he’d separated from Natalie back in December. Prior to that separation, they’d been together for 24 years.

The full interview is in the July issue of the Women’s Weekly. Good on Natalie for sticking it to Barnaby. We hope her words gave him pause.
